The 100th anniversary of the birth of Theodor Herzl, founder of political Zionism, was observed tonight at Columbia University under sponsorship of the Center of Israel and Jewish Studies of the University and the Theodor Herzl Institute.
Among the speakers who discussed Herzl’s impact on Jewish history were Prof. Salo W. baran, director of the Columbia center. Dr. Emanuel Neumann, chairman of the Herzl Foundation, Ben Halpern, of the Center of Near Eastern Studies of Harvard University. Dr. Oskar Rabinowicz. former Czechoslovakian professor, and Jacob C. Jurewitz of Columbia University.
