Contributions by overseas Jewry to Israel amounted to a record of $102 million during the 1971-72 fiscal year in all countries exclusive of the United States, Keren Hayesod chairman Ezra Shapiro reported at a press conference here today. He stressed that immigration from Russia and the need to provide housing and jobs for the new immigrants were the greatest incentives to fund-raising abroad. He warned, however, that the present negative atmosphere in Israel toward new immigrants might hamper fund-raising efforts. He urged Israelis to change their attitude and to understand that immigration was essential to the development of the country.
