More than 12,000 Jewish veterans of Britain’s armed forces today marched in their annual Remembrance Day parade in honor of their fallen comrades. The parade was held on the grounds of the Horse Guards Parade and a wreath was laid at the Cenotaph, Britain’s national monument to its war dead.
For the first time, fully uniformed officers of Israel’s army, navy and air force-who are training in Britain-participated in the parade, which was held in a downpour, In the reviewing stands were Israel Minister Eliahu Elath, the High Commissioners of Britain’s commonwealth of nations and Gen. Sir Frederick Pile, who headed England’s aircraft defenses during the late war. The service was conducted by British Chief Rabbi Israel Brodie.
