Sixteen of the two hundred and fifty nationally known leaders of American industry and commerce who have united to organize a foundation to aid the scientific study of business under the guidance of the Harvard Business School are Jews. The new foundation will be called the Two Hundred and Fifty Associates of the Harvard Business School and the members pledge themselves to pay annual dues of $1,000.
The sixteen Jews invited to join the Two Hundred and Fifty are Louis E. Kirstein of Boston, Herbert N. Straus of New York, Jesse I. Straus of New York, Gerard Swope of New York, A. Lincoln Filene of Boston, Herbert Fleishhacker of San Francisco, Col. Michael Friedsam of New York, Henry Ittelson of New York, Otto H. Kahn of New York, Arthur Lehman of New York, Adolph S. Ochs of New York, Carl Pforzheimer of New York, Julius Rosenwald of Chicago, Lessing I. Rosenwald of Philadelphia, Walter N. Rothschild of Brooklyn, David Sarnoff and Percy S. Straus of New York.
Mr. Kirstein, and Messrs Herbert and Jesse Straus and Gerard Swope are members of the first board of trustees.
