175 Jewish Lawyers to Be Permitted to Practice in Reich

Not more than 175 Jewish lawyers throughout the Reich will be permitted to practice after the court purge law announced last saturday takes effect, it was predicted today by der Angriff, nazi party organ. In Berlin the number of Jewish lawyers is expected to be about 40. Jewish lawyers will be disbarred in the old Reich by Nov . 30 and in Austria by dec. 31. those 175 to be excepted will be given the title of “consultants” and will be permitted to represent Jewish clients only in cases where “aryan” lawyers are forbidden to represent “non-Aryans.” Der Angriff states that 700 Jewish lawyers are now practicing in Berlin and 4,600 Jewish lawyers throughout the Reich.
