Approximately 2,000 Turkish Jews immigrated to Israel during the month of July, it was reported here today. The total is an increase over the number of Jews who proceeded to the Jewish state during June and it is generally expected that the 2,000-monthly figure will be maintained in the future, despite the discouraging reports reaching here from Israel concerning the economic situation in the new state.
Victor Eliyashar, representative to Turkey of the Israeli Immigration Ministry, who arrived here recently, conferred this week with government officials on the question of allowing Israel-bound Jews to take with them all of their capital and other goods.
Since the wave of immigration to Israel began here, emigrating Jews have not been permitted to take with them all of their personal property. In a meeting with the press, Mr. Eliashar said he was very satisfied with the friendly attitude displayed by the Turkish authorities in the talks being conducted on immigration matters.
