Thirty Jews, including several women, were seriously wounded by Cuzists yesterday in an outbreak of anti-Semitic violence attending municipal elections in Bacau, Moldavia. A number of the wounded were not expected to live.
Cuzist storm troops ranged through the city’s streets, wrecking 35 Jewish shops. Entering homes, they beat up the inhabitants with ironclad clubs. Also among the victims of the attacks were several members of Rumanian democratic parties.
Troops, rushed to the city, succeeded in restoring order, but made no arrests. Because of the violence, Jews were kept from the polls.
