56 Jewish Candidates Running in Britain’s National Elections

There are at least 56 Jewish candidates running on four different slates in the May 26 national elections in Britain it was determined here today in a survey of the final list of candidates. Forty of the Jews are running on the Labor ticket ten are running as Conservatives, five as Liberals and one as a Communist. There were 10 Jews sitting in the dissolved Parliament.

Prominent among the Labor candidates are incumbent Barnett Janner and his son Grenville Janner, who is fighting for his first seat. Among the Conservative candidates is Sir Henry d’Avigdor Goldsmid president of the Jewish Colonization Association and Sir Keith Joseph member of the executive committee of the British Friends of the Hebrew University.
