The 80th birthday of Berl Locker, Zionist leader and former chairman of the Jewish Agency, was marked at a celebration here held under the auspices of the Zionist Federation.
Donald Silk, chairman of the Federation, who presided, Sir Barnett Janner, and Dr. S. Levenberg, hailed Mr. Locker’s contributions to the development of Zionism in Britain when he headed the Jewish Agency’s political department in London. He was described as a man of action and a person of wide cultural interests who had helped to pave the way for Israel’s statehood.
