A joint U.S.-Israel laser weapon shot down successive salvos of Katyusha rockets for the first time in tests at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. The new weapon, known as Nautilus in Israel and Tactical High Energy Laser in the United States, is being developed to defend Israel’s borders against short-range rocket attacks.
