A Nazi concentration camp officer and suspected war criminal died in a British hospital. Alexander Schweidler, alleged to have committed atrocities while a member of the SS Death’s Head Battalion at Mauthausen in Austria, died after collapsing with chest pains. Days prior to his death, several groups had lobbied for his prosecution.
