A new chief rabbi of Amsterdam has been appointed by the Amsterdam Ashkenazi Congregation Council. He is Raphael Auerbach, 35, of Jerusalem. Rabbi Auerbach was born in Tel Aviv and was for a time a rabbi in the Agudath Israel kibbutz of Shaalbim. He teaches at a religious girls college in Jerusalem.
