A new tolerance initiative will be launched at the European Parliament in Brussels.
The European Platform for Jewish Muslim Cooperation will be proposed by British Parliament deputy Richard Howitt on Nov. 27.
The platform, supported by CEJI-A Jewish Contribution to an Inclusive Europe, is the result of that group’s European Conference on Muslim-Jewish Dialogue in April.
Research will be presented at the launch demonstrating positive approaches to Jewish-Muslim dialogue and cooperation in Europe.
The launch also will promote the Declaration of Support for Jewish Muslim Cooperation, which pledges support for Jews and Muslims “committed to foster positive intercultural, interreligious and interethnic relations based on mutual acceptance, respect and understanding.“
Twenty-six organizations in eight countries have signed on to the document.
