A Palestinian sniper killed an Israeli army officer near Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity on Tuesday night. The army said soldiers were checking a suspicious vehicle when a Palestinian fired from a nearby alley and killed Capt. Shachar Shmul, 24, from Jerusalem.
