A suburban county near Washington abolished its roadside cleanup program to prevent the Ku Klux Klan from sponsoring a stretch of road in the local “adopt- a-road” program. Instead of facing a lawsuit from the Klan if they rejected the group’s application, the county will now forgo some $20,000 raised by the program.
