The Israel Cabinet last night decided to submit to the Parliament a law proposing abolition of the death penalty.
(The Associated Press reported today that the Cabinet also decided to shelve the controversial bill which provides that girls in Israel who object to military service on religious grounds should serve at non-military work for a corresponding period.)
Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan told the Cabinet that part of the $68,000,000 grants-in-aid voted Israel by the United States might be used for purchasing consumer goods, including food. The Finance Minister completed discussions with a three-man American mission which has been studying the situation here for the past two weeks with special reference to the country’s urgent needs.
