Abraham Kaufmann, president of the Neboh Kosher Provision Company, of 488 Broadway, Brooklyn, will be arraigned today in the Fifth District Magistrate’s Court, Brooklyn, charged with a violation of Section 435a of the penal code, it was learned yesterday.
The Neboh concern, according to Arthur Simon, confidential investigator for the Health Department, has two factories at the Brooklyn address, one for the Health Department, has two factories at the Brooklyn address, one for Kosher products and one for non-kosher products. The charge on which Kaufmann is to be arraigned concerns eight barrels of meat found in the kosher factory.
Investigator Simon declared that he and other inspectors of the Health department had been investigating the Neboh Company’s alleged evasion of the kosher laws for several weeks.
Officials of the Health Department hinted of sensational disclosures in connection with violations of the kosher laws throughout the city. One official of the department characterized the kosher situation here as “messy” and “graft ridden.”
