Active involvement and increased political advocacy from the American Jewish community is essential to help Jews in the former Soviet Union, who continue to face anti-Semitism, a leading advocacy group says. The National Conference on Soviet Jewry says it plans to press harder this year to raise awareness in the United States of the problems faced by Jews in the former Soviet Union and to place pressure on the governments there to deal with anti-Semitism.
