An all-day Jewish-Christian dialogue was held today at the Thiel College in Greenville, a Lutheran school, which was sponsored by the college, the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith, the Jewish Chautauqua Society and the Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Co. The goal of the dialogue, the first at Thiel College, was to discuss the history of relations between Christians and Jews into the present, as well as problems and religious differences and similarities.
Dr. John Riemann, professor of New Testament at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Mount Airy, in Philadelphia, and Dr. Samuel Sandmen, professor of Bible and Hellenistic Literature of the Hebrew Union College, the Reform rabbinical seminary, led two of the sessions. A series of workshops were held on Christian beliefs and anti-Semitism, Christianity and Israel, law in Hebrew scriptures and theology after Auschwitz.
