French Ambassador Henri Bonnet said tonight that France has always been deeply concerned with the protection of the rights of all ethnic groups wherever France has interests and responsibilities. He added that France will not only cooperate whole-heartedly with all great humanitarian causes but also will exert every effort to protect the rights, the property and life of all people within her territories regardless of race, color or creed.
The Ambassador spoke at a reception tendered by the American Friends of the Alliance Israelite Universelle, which cooperates with the Alliance Israelite Universelle, French Jewish association which maintains a network of 130 schools with over 50, 000 children in North Africa, Israel and other Mediterranean countries.
Roger Thabault, Director of the Department of Education of French Morocco, said he considers the Alliance school network the most powerful factor in the continuing progress of Moroccan Jewry.
Professor Rene Cassin, head of the French Council of State (The Supreme Administrative Court of France) and President of the Alliance, introduced the Ambassador and expressed the thanks of the Alliance to the French Government for its assistance to the schools of the Alliance. He also thanked American Jewry for their help given through the American Joint Distribution Committee.
