The American Christian Palestine Committee yesterday called on President Truman and the State Department to take steps designed to halt the shipment of arms by Britain to the Arab states.

The committee also asked that Israel be permitted to purchase arms in this country in order to prevent a second round of warfare in the Near East. In addition, it urged the President and the State Department to use their good offices to help convert the armistice agreements between Israel and the Arab states into permanent peace settlements.
