The “terrific efforts” of the Israeli authorities to absorb many immigrants were described today by Dr. John Slawson, executive vice-president of the American Jewish Committee, who Just arrived here on his way back to the United States. Dr, Slawson was a member of the Committee’s delegation visiting Israel.
The “problem number one” of the Jewish state, he said, was its economy. He added that the future task of the American Jewish Committee would be to help the Israelis attract capital which was the only way to assist Israel in maintaining an Army and incorporating thousands of immigrants in the coming years.
