The American Zionist Emergency Council decided to modify its name at a meeting at which representatives of all Zionist parties in the United States were present. The organization will now function under the name, American Zionist Council.
The meeting, which was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Abba Hillel Silver, unanimously adopted the report of the Zionist Scope Committee which negotiated with the Jewish Agency executive regarding the further activities of the Council.
The Council will be composed of five representatives from the Zionist Organization of America, five from Hadassah, four from the Mizrachi Organization of America, four from the Labor Zionists, two from the Revisionists, two from Hashomer Hatzair and two from the Labor Unity Group. A new executive–composed of a chairman, vice-chairman, secretary and treasurer–will be elected by the Council next month.
