The Council of the Ashkenazic Jewish Congregation of Amsterdam has decided that new taxes will be necessary in order to assist poor congregations throughout Holland, whose member is increasingly steadily.

Because of hard times it was also decided to put in effect salary reductions of from two and one-half to seven and one-half per cent. The council required three sessions before it reached agreement on a new budget.
