An activist in Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat’s Fatah faction was critically wounded in an explosion. Palestinian witnesses said the car of Ashraf Bardaweel, 27, exploded near the West Bank town of Tulkarm and that they saw an Israeli helicopter hovering overhead. Israel said it knew nothing about the incident.
