An Armenian monk was shot and seriously wounded near Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity, apparently by Israeli army fire. Reports quoted Israeli military sources as saying the monk may have been trying to bring supplies into the compound when he was hit by Israeli sniper fire aimed at an armed Palestinian in the vicinity.
