An Israeli volunteer group was named an adviser to a United Nations committee. The decision on Yad Sarah, made last Friday, marks the first time an Israeli Jewish organization has been recognized as an advisory body to the U.N.’s Economic and Social Council. Yad Sarah, one of Israel’s best-known volunteer organizations, gives free short-term loans of medical equipment.
