Declaring that the publication of “an anti-Semitic, racially discriminatory article” in the current issue of the “American Vegetarian,” is a “fundamental contradiction of the basic tenets of the vegetarian faith which preaches the universal brotherhood of man,” Symon Gould, Vice-Presidential candidate of the American Vegetarian Party, today demanded the resignation of the newspaper’s publishers.
“Three million vegetarians in the U.S. will hang their heads in shame for this outrageous insult to the Jews,” Gould asserted. He described as “preposterous” the charges contained in the article that “Jews are aiming for world domination through money monopoly.”
