Many Hungarian villages that formerly contained considerable Jewish populations are now left without a single Jew as a result of mass emigration of Jews during the past few years, according to the president of the Budapest Kehillah, Szolnoker, who writes in the “Egyenloeszeg.” In many cases, he says, the Jewish residents of these villages have simply been expelled by force, while in most cases it is the economic anti-Semitism which has forced these Jewish villagers to abandon their fields, businesses, synagogues and cemeteries.
