Argentina’s ambassador to Austria was recalled to Buenos Aires after a local newspaper published a report he sent last October in which he described far- right leader Jorg Haider as a “democrat” and attributed the commotion created by his Freedom Party’s ascent to power to “media exaggerations.” Juan Carlos Kreckler is expected to arrive in Buenos Aires this week to provide further details on his comments, President Fernando de la Rua said.
