Argentine President Fernando de la Rua was among the government officials and Jewish leaders to attend a ceremony marking the 65th birthday of DAIA, the political umbrella organization of Argentine Jewry. The Delegacion de Asociaciones Israelitas Argentinas was founded in 1935 by 28 organizations, including synagogues and local Jewish community groups, as a response to growing anti-Semitism.
