The U.S. Government’s embargo on arms to the Middle ##ast may lead to unofficial discussions between the British and the Americans which ##ay bring the entire Palestine issue to the attention of the Big Four foreign ministers, who are now in London working on peace treaties with Austria and Germany, a ##ell informed British source stated during the week-end.

The source refused to state at whose initiative the talks would be opened, but he indicated that they would take place on a “very high level” and might lead to a complete embargo on all arms shipments to the Middle East except those specifically approved by the U.N. Security Council.

(In Paris a French official told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency that there were no signs of the start of a “holy war” against the Jews in North Africa. He added that the government would take all measures necessary to protect the Jews in North Africa.)
