Australian Jewish leaders are interested in raising funds to clean up the Tel Aviv river in which four Australian athletes died and dozens were injured after a bridge collapsed during the 1997 Maccabiah Games. According to the Israeli daily Ma’ariv, a delegation of Australian Jewish leaders raised the possibility of cleaning the polluted Yarkon River during a meeting with Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai.
