King Hussein of Jordan told Western diplomats that he was prepared to accept military help from Israel to prevent the overthrow of his regime by Palestinian guerrillas during the Jordanian civil war last September, according to a new book to be published here shortly. The book, titled “The Civil War in Jordan and the Hijackings” was written by Peter Snow, a television commentator regarded as a Middle East expert. Mr. Snow claimed that King Hussein urged Western Ambassadors to summon help and told them he would not mind if Israeli troops participated in an expedition to help him preserve his throne. Questioned by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, a Foreign Office spokesman said. “We had no requests by King Hussein to pass on such a proposition to the government of Israel.” The spokesman did not deny however that such a proposal had been made.
