Premier David Ben Gurion last night awarded three cash prizes of 1, 000 pounds each to top Israeli scientists and technicians for contributions to Israel’s defense efforts.

One prize went to Major Uzzi Gal, inventor of the submachine gun which the Israelis call “Uzzi” and which they not only use in their own forces but export. The other two prizes were given to two scientists whose identities were not revealed for security reasons. Dr. David Bergman, chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, was mentioned by the Premier for his contributions.
