So-called “modernists” and “progressives” who snub the Bible as “passe” were castigated here by Prime Minister David Ben Gurion today. He voiced his attacks against detractors of biblical lore, whet, he addressed the opening of a four-day biblical research convention which started here this morning.
Regardless of skeptics and cynics, Mr. Ben Gurion stated, “the immortal values of the Book of Books” remain unchanged today. Several hundred delegates from all parts of Israel are attending the convention. The sessions will be devoted entirely to the Books of Isaiah and Ezekicl, and will feature presentations by leading scholars of learned papers dealing with the eras when these two prophets lived.
