Israel’s Minister to South Africa Simcha Pratt was the main speaker tonight at a crowded meeting in Zionist Hall to celebrate the 75th birthday of Israeli Premier David Ben-Gurion. Mr. Pratt reviewed Premier Ben-Gurion’s historic role in the establishment and consolidation of the State of Israel.
Other speakers included Edel Horowitz, chairman of the South African Zionist Federation, who presided; Judge Simon Kuper and Namie Phillips, president of the South African Jewish Board of Deputies. Similar rallies honoring Mr. Ben-Gurion’s birthday were held in other cities in South Africa.
