The “Voelkischer Beobachter”, principal organ of Chancellor Adolph Hitler’s National Socialist party publishes a report that all the passport offices of Germany are crowded with Jewish applicants seeking visas to go abroad.
The paper asserts that the reason mentioned in their applications is that they desire to take the cure, but that in actuality the Jews are seeking flight abroad with their possessions.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learns that the Nazi press report is greatly exaggerated. There is no mass migration movement among the Jews although the Jewish population is terrified and living in intense anxiety as a result of Hitler’s appointment as Chancellor.
The Nazi press, celebrating Hitler’s victory, announces that the present Prussian Minister of Education, Kaehler, will be replaced by a Nazi, Rust. The Nazi’s appointment is interpreted as meaning the creation of new stringencies for Jewish professors in German educational institutions. One of the first to suffer, it is predicted, will be the Jewish professor Ernst Cohn, of Breslau University, whose ouster the Nazis have unsuccessfully sought to bring about since last November.
