A chair at the Hebrew University, probably for the study of German literature and philosophy, will be established and maintained by the Jewish community of Berlin, according to a decision of the Berlin Kehillah.
The Kehillah Board at its meeting last night adopted in principle the resolution introduced by Dr. Alfred Klee, Zionist. A committee was appointed, consisting of Prof. I. Elbogen, Dr. Klee and Dr. Kollenscher, Zionists; and Messrs, Stern and Tuerk, Liberals, for the purpose of consulting the Academic Council of the Hebrew University as to the character of the professorship. The study of German literature and philosophy is being considered. The action of the Berlin Kehillah, it was declared, is intended as a stimulus to the larger Jewish communities in England, the United States, France and taly, to establish chairs at the Hebrew University for the study of the literature of their respective countries.
