Georg Bernhard famous German-Jewish journalist and economist, resigned as editor-in-chief of the “Vossiche Zeitung” and will leave the paper at the end of this year, according to an official editorial announcement. The announcement, however, states that Bernhard’s resignation is not due to the conflict with the Ullstein Brothers, one of the biggest German publishing firms, but rather to Bernhard’s desire to extend his political activities.
Georg Bernhard was born in Berlin in 1875 and in his early youth learned banking. He has actively participated in some of the best known German publications, such as “Die Welt am Montag,” “Berliner Zeitung,” “Morgenpost” and Harden’s “Zukunft.” He also takes an active interest in Jewish affairs, being a director in the Central Verein of German Citizens of the Jewish Faith and the Ort and a member of the German Pro-Palestine Committee.
