Prof. Morris R. Cohen, of the Philosophy Department at City College, yesterday commended Dr. James L. McConaughy, president of Wesleyan University, for his letter to twelve Jewish students of his college in which he advised the students of the difficulties to be encountered if they attempted to enter medical schools.
Of Dr. McConaughy, Professor Cohen declared: “The president happens to be a very courageous person. He is facing the situation and telling the truth.”
Asked whether, in his opinion, there is any discrimination against Jewish pre-medical students, Professor Cohen said that “there is no doubt that medical schools are limiting Jewish students.
“They don’t deny it,” he added.
