Gov. Christian A. Herter has invited Walter H. Bieringer to become chairman of the Massachusetts Refugee Commission being set up in response to President Eisenhower’s request to the governors of all states to aid in the settlement of refugees under the Refugee Relief Act of 1953.
Mr. Bieringer, president of the United Service for New Americans for the past four years, and chairman of the executive committee of the newly-formed United Hias Service, has served in a similar capacity as head of the state’s refugee body in the past two State administrations.
