Marcel Vidal, Jewish Engineer, Also in Accident; Bokanowski son of Polish Jewish Family (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)
The French capital mourned the death of Maurice Bokanowski, Minister of Commerce and Aviation, who with four companions, was killed Sunday morning when the biplane in which they had started a flight at Toul caught fire in the air and crashed to the earth in flames. All the victims were so badly burned they could not be recognized and the Cabinet member was identified only by means of a platinum watch.
Marcel Vidal, Jewish engineer, was another of the victims. Edouard Defranc, general secretary of the Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aerien Henri Willins, radio operator, and Gabriel Hanin, pilot, died in the accident.
Bokanowski, who was the son of a Polish Jewish family which settled in France some time ago, is survived by his wife and four children. Madam Bokanowski was formerly Miss Wolf.
