A booby-trapped car was safely blown up after it was discovered by Israeli forces today parked on a roadside in Khalde, south of Beirut. The car was in an area where Israeli troops have come under attack recently.

The Israel army has warned local residents that cars parked on certain roads will be blown up. The precaution was taken following several incidents in which parked cars loaded with explosives were detonated by remote control as Israeli patrols passed close to them.

Meanwhile the army is investigating last Friday’s ambush that killed three Israeli soldiers in Lebanon. Military sources denied however that the town of Deir Kanoun, near the scene of the attack, has been placed under curfew and barred to United Nations personnel.
