Boston Children Must Be Placed with Families of Same Religion

September 14, 1951
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

A bill designed to stiffen the law requiring that children in adoption cases be placed with families of the same religion was adopted by the House of Representatives here.

A probate judge could waive that requirement only when he considered it impracticable to comply with it, under the terms of the measure, and he would be compelled to file a statement listing his reasons for giving custody of a child to a person of a different faith. The new law would also apply to all state wards boarded in homes or placed in any private or charitable institutions.
