Brandeis University is launching a research center to help the Jewish community plan its future. The Steinhardt Social Research Institute, funded by a $12 million gift from philanthropist Michael Steinhardt, is scheduled to open in September 2005.

A professor at a U.S. university who has links to a Nazi group was fired. Fairleigh Dickinson University dismissed Jacques Pluss, saying he had missed too many days of class, but Pluss said he was fired because of his political beliefs and activities.
