Gen. Levi Cardoso became the first Jewish marshal in the Brazilian Army today when he was elevated to that rank on his retirement by President Castelo Branco, Gen. Cardoso is one of five Jewish generals in the Brazilian armed forces. One of them is a brother of Levi Cardoso, who is active in the Jewish community.
