Dr. Salo Brand, a Jewish engineer, has been named State Secretary of Communications and Public Works in the provincial cabinet of Miguel Conto Filho, Governor of Rio de Janeiro Province, it was announced here today.
Dr. Brand is active in the Jewish community and is currently president of the Zionist club Hebraica. He is a member of the Labor Party of the late President Getullic Vargas and once served as a deputy in the Brazilian Parliament representing the Labor Party.
