The Home Office tonight gave permission to Dr. Sigmund Freud to remain in the United Kingdom indefinitely. Dr. Ernst Freud, the 82-year-old Austrian Jewish psychoanalyst’s son, expressed the family’s gratitude to British authorities for giving his father permanent sanctuary. Professor Freud told interviewers that “everything was taken away from us, but we do not feel we were ruined.”
