December 3, 1943
See Original Daily Bulletin From This Date

The British Government will shortly propose to Parliament a bill providing for the guardianship of orphaned refugee children who have arrived in the United Kingdom since 1936, it is learned here today.

The bill will empower the Home Secretary to appoint guardians for all orphaned children who came here as a result of religious, racial or political persecution. The reason for the introduction of the bill is that there have been several disputes as to the religion in which some of the young refugees were to be reared.
